I was pulled over by a new police officer in town, Officer M (I'll withhold his full name out of privacy and courtesy for the officer), for allegedly doing 43 in a 30 mph zone. When I asked for proof of the radar which he told me he originally told me he had, he said "no you may not" see the radar. I remarked that he should be able to provide proof that I had broken the law in the case of this violation, but Officer M said he erased the radar already. He then explained that it was his word - a police officer's word - against mine. I would encourage all citizens of Thermopolis to be weary of this officer as he appeared to be keeping critical information/evidence from a person that he was writing a citation on. I certainly hope that all police officers in a position of power treat citizens with the same respect that we are expected to show them in return. In my personal case, I feel that Officer M was disrespectful, rude, and hopefully is not a true reflection of the Thermopolis Police Department.
